What additions to the website would you like to see when we re-vamp it over the winter months? All sugestions will be considered and would be really appreciated.

Surely someone has some ideas? Some that I have considered are:

Make an electronic map with campsites highlited on it.
Allow people to upload their own photos of campsites.
Add a last updated date to all campsites details.

Your site is pretty good as it stands Andy. We've used it a lot this year while planning trips.

Your own three suggestions are excellent and would make a great site even better.

How adding about the facility to do a search by site name or partial name? It would speed up searching when looking for a site one has looked up in the past.
Modify the "Star" grading system to cover location, facilities, staff/owners' helpfulness? As it stands it is rather a blunt instrument - I've found it difficult to rate sites at times - 'super location and nice owners but iffy loos !!'

There is already on the web a freely available file for "AutoRoute" that includes all the UK sites of the two main clubs (CC and C&CC) and their "Certified Site/Locations). If you (or someone) could add the contents of your site to that file it would be a superb resource. A good number of the camp sites you have listed are already included in the "AutoRoute" file.

Sorry - Long reply, but you did ask!
Keep up the good work and thanks for a great site.

Definetly have a map where you click on it shows you nearest sites , also have a winter section showing the sites that are open off season for cold campers . Have split ratings for site position , site quallity ,local stuff and price .

I REALLY DO LIKE THIS SITE AND THINK THAT THE INFORMATION REGARDING CAMP SITES IN SCOTLAND ETC IS BRILLIANT..WHAT I DONT LIKE IS IN THE GENERAL SECTION THE JUNK, ADVERTISING SEX CHAT LINES AND POKER GAMES ETC ETC ...I FEEL THEY ARE LOWERING THE TONE OF THE FORUM AND I PERSONALLY WOULD PREFER JUNK LIKE THAT OFF THE FORUM AND THE ISP NUMBERS BANNED SO THEY CANT COME IN WITH ANOTHER NAME...
THATS ONLY MY OPINION OTHERS MIGHT LIKE ALL THAT KIND OF STUFF..

Just a silly one really. Could you put a link to the next page on the camp-sites pages. Especially where an area goes over more than one or two pages. Save me from scrolling back to the top. (am I lazy or what?) smile

I like that idea Gordy - I'll look into it and see if it's achievable.

On some of the site reviews the 'Our View' comments at the end of the general description of the campsite are cut off. An example of this is the Glenmore Caravan and Camping Site where a new sentence begins 'We unders...' and then disappears, this is not the only occurrence of this. A bigger space for this or a scroll bar on that part of the page would be helpful.

Also the weblink to Faichemard Farm Campsite does not work as it simply returns you to the Home Page for this website.

Otherwise this is a fantastic website, I wish I had discovered it sooner, an invaluable resource for all campers - keep up the good work.

That's the link fixed. The our view needs to be looked at, since the revamp the character limit was too low and we lost some of the text. It is something we are wondering if it's worthwile getting back or not as we are not wanting to be critical to campsites as they will want their details removed if we give them a bad review and if we only post positive views it is maybe not worthwhile. Still mulling it over.

Cheers

Yes I know what you mean but I found the 'Our View' useful as it gave a frank view of the site and facilities without being too gushing or conversely petty or vicious. (I'm not saying the other opinons, including my own, are not valid just maybe not so circumspect)

I'm sure a little constructive criticism doesn't hurt and those that would be annoyed by it are probably not tuning in anyway.
